Frozen River
Frozen River is a biome in Minecraft. Mobs that spawn here include Slime, Stray, Skeleton, Drowned, and Glow Squid.

Frozen River is a cold variant of the standard river biome, generating exclusively in the lowest-temperature zones of the Overworld. Its most distinctive feature is a complete layer of ice covering the water's surface, while snow settles across the surrounding banks and nearby land. Like its warmer counterpart, the Frozen River carves long valleys that dip below sea level, frequently connecting to frozen ocean biomes or forming enclosed loops inland. It also replaces swamp biomes wherever temperatures drop low enough, and can generate alongside taiga biomes that share a compatible climate range.
The riverbed of a Frozen River supports seagrass growth, though the ice layer above cannot be displaced by it. Bushes may appear along grassy banks, and both sugar cane and firefly bushes are relatively common due to the biome's extended shorelines. Sugar cane is prone to uprooting itself when adjacent water blocks freeze over. When a Frozen River cuts through an ice spikes biome, spruce trees occasionally appear along the shores despite not being a feature the biome naturally generates on its own.
In Bedrock Edition, rabbits and polar bears roam the banks, while salmon swim beneath the frozen surface. Hostile spawning at night is limited to strays, skeletons, slimes, and drowned, rather than the broader range of mobs found in milder biomes. The Frozen River holds a temperature value of 0.0 and a downfall of 0.5, meaning precipitation always falls as snow. With Vibrant Visuals enabled, cold color grading and deep-blue lighting lend the biome a particularly stark, icy atmosphere.
