Sunflower Plains

Sunflower Plains is an Overworld biome that serves as a variant of the standard plains, instantly distinguished by the dense clusters of sunflowers that cover its gently rolling, open terrain. It holds the distinction of being the only biome in the game where sunflowers spawn naturally, making Sunflower Plains an essential stop for any player in need of yellow dye or looking to collect tall decorative flowers.

The landscape of Sunflower Plains closely resembles that of regular plains — broad, relatively flat, and largely unobstructed. A modest number of oak trees dot the surface, some of which may contain bee nests. Joining the sunflowers are azure bluets, oxeye daisies, cornflowers, and tulips, as well as patches of short grass, tall grass, and scattered bushes. The overall feel is one of an open, colourful meadow biome.

Sunflower Plains generates in areas of very low humidity within medium temperature zones and tends to appear at high weirdness values. It is frequently bordered by rivers or mountain valleys that separate it from flower forests, and while it can adjoin most biomes that standard plains border — including cherry groves — it will not sit directly next to forests or similar woodland biomes. In Bedrock Edition, villages and pillager outposts may generate here, though Java Edition does not include these structures within the biome.

The mob composition of Sunflower Plains mirrors that of plains. Passive animals such as cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, horses, and donkeys wander the grassland during the day. At night, standard hostile mobs emerge, and zombie horses ridden by zombie jockeys can occasionally be encountered roaming the open fields.
