Trial Chambers

Trial Chambers is a generated structure in Minecraft. It is home to Zombie, Husk, Skeleton, Stray, and Bogged.

Trial Chambers are rare underground structures introduced in Minecraft 1.21. They generate below Y=0 in newly created chunks, forming a grid-like layout of interconnected rooms and corridors made from copper and tuff blocks.

They are the only natural source of Trial Spawners, Vaults, Breezes, and key items like Breeze Rods, Heavy Cores, and Wind Charges, used to craft maces and other gear. Players can trigger Ominous Trials by entering with a Bad Omen, causing tougher mobs to spawn and unlocking improved loot.

The layout includes entrances, hallways, intersections, chambers, and atriums. Chambers feature combat encounters with mobs like zombies, skeletons, and breezes, which scale in difficulty depending on player count. Trial Spawners drop Trial Keys, used to open Vaults containing rare loot such as enchanted gear, diamonds, templates, and unique banner patterns.

Trial Chambers also include decorated pots, dispenser traps, loot barrels, and chests, with loot scaling based on location and challenge level. Each structure is a mid-game combat dungeon offering valuable resources and exclusive rewards for prepared players.

Trial Chambers generate deep underground in the Overworld, most commonly between about Y -40 and Y 0. They are not tied to a specific surface biome and can appear beneath nearly any biome, built from copper and tuff blocks.

What loot and mobs are in a Trial Chamber?▾

Trial Chambers feature Trial Spawners that release waves of mobs, plus Vaults you open with Trial Keys for rewards like pottery sherds, armor trims, and emeralds. Triggering Bad Omen creates an Ominous Trial Chamber with Ominous Vaults, where a Heavy Core can drop so you can craft the Mace. Trial Chambers were added in 1.21.
