Dead Bush is a decorative plant that generates naturally in deserts, badlands, swamps, and old growth taigas. It can be placed on sand, red sand, terracotta, dirt, podzol, mud, grass, mycelium, and moss but does not spread or grow with bone meal.
Breaking a Dead Bush without shears drops 0–2 sticks, while using shears allows it to drop itself. It can also be found in flower pots inside desert village houses and trial chambers. Unlike most plants, Dead Bushes cannot be composted but can be used as fuel, smelting 0.5 items per bush.
Dead Bushes placed on sand, red sand, or terracotta with at least one matching block below them emit ambient sounds like rustling leaves and wind. These sounds naturally play in deserts and badlands due to the abundance of Dead Bushes in those biomes.
