Copper Spear
Copper Spear is a melee weapon available in Minecraft, crafted from copper ingots and sticks. It sits at the fifth-highest tier among spears and matches the stone spear in jab attack damage, though it swings at a slightly lower attack speed. One of its defining characteristics is its extended reach, which ranges from 2 blocks at minimum up to 4.5 blocks at maximum — noticeably farther than the majority of standard melee weapons.
The Copper Spear supports two attack modes that give it versatility in combat. The jab attack is triggered by pressing the use button while standing on solid ground, dealing 2 damage in Java Edition or 3 damage in Bedrock Edition, followed by a recharge cooldown. The charge attack is initiated by holding the use button, which lowers the spear into an offensive stance; any target the spear collides with takes velocity-dependent damage and can be dismounted from a mount. Be aware that holding the charge too long enters a shaking state, removing the dismount effect, and holding it even longer creates a dropped-down state that eliminates knockback while keeping the full damage output intact.
Players can obtain the Copper Spear either by crafting it — using one copper ingot and two sticks arranged diagonally — or by looting a village weaponsmith's chest, where it appears with approximately a 30.6% chance. The Copper Spear carries a durability of 190 in Java Edition and 191 in Bedrock Edition, with an enchantability rating of 13. Once worn out, it can be smelted down into a copper nugget, making it useful even at the end of its life.
