Wooden Spear
Wooden Spear is the most basic tier within the spear weapon class, making it the natural starting point for players exploring this style of combat. It is crafted by combining any type of wooden planks with two sticks, and while it sits at the sixth-highest spear tier, it matches the golden spear in attack damage while edging ahead with greater attack speed and durability.
The Wooden Spear supports two distinct attack modes that set spears apart from standard melee weapons. A jab attack is performed while the player stands on the ground, dealing 1 HP (0.5 hearts) in Java Edition or 2 HP (1 heart) in Bedrock Edition, followed by a brief cooldown. A charge attack is initiated by holding down the use key, which lowers the spear into a forward-thrust stance. During this mode, damage scales according to the wielder's movement speed and struck enemies are dismounted from any mount they are riding. Holding the charge too long enters a shaking state that removes the dismount effect, and holding it even further transitions to a dropped-down state that eliminates knockback while keeping full damage intact. Charge attacks apply a 0.7× damage multiplier, and the Wooden Spear reaches targets between 2 and 4.5 blocks away.
In terms of statistics, the Wooden Spear has a durability of 59 in Java Edition and 60 in Bedrock Edition, along with an enchantability of 15. It can accept melee weapon enchantments as well as lunge enchantments. Like other wooden items, the Wooden Spear can also serve as fuel in a furnace, smoker, or blast furnace, smelting one item per spear. It is a renewable item and does not stack in the inventory.
