Stone Spear

Stone Spear is a stone-tier melee weapon available in Minecraft, crafted using cobblestone, blackstone, or cobbled deepslate. It sits as the fourth-highest tier among spears and shares its base damage output with the copper spear, though it operates at a comparatively higher attack speed. Players who prefer exploration over crafting can also obtain the Stone Spear as loot found inside small and large chests within ocean ruins structures.

The Stone Spear offers two distinct attack modes, giving it more versatility than a standard sword. A jab attack is performed while the player stands on the ground, delivering damage followed by a recharge cooldown similar in length to that of an ender pearl. Alternatively, holding the use key initiates a charge attack — the spear lowers into position and deals damage scaled to how fast the wielder is moving at the moment of impact. A successful charge hit will also knock a target off any mount they are riding.

Sustained use of the charge attack gradually shifts the Stone Spear through two additional states. First, a shaking state removes the dismounting effect while damage is retained. Then a dropped-down state eliminates knockback entirely, though full damage continues to apply. In terms of reach, the Stone Spear has a minimum attack range of 2 blocks and a maximum of 4.5 blocks, giving it noticeably greater range than conventional melee weapons such as swords.
