Sparse Jungle (Jungle Edge) is a lower-density variant of the standard jungle biome. Rather than the dense canopy found in a full jungle, the Sparse Jungle presents a more open landscape — resembling a lush plains scattered with small jungle trees at intervals roughly comparable to the tree frequency seen in savannas. The grass retains a vivid green tint, though slightly less saturated than in the regular jungle.
Vegetation in the Sparse Jungle is notably sparse. Only small jungle trees, isolated oak trees, jungle bushes, and occasional melon patches generate here. Bamboo does not appear, and jungle pyramids cannot spawn within its boundaries. The biome typically borders bamboo jungles, plains, old growth birch forests, deserts, wooded badlands, and mangrove swamps, with rivers usually forming the boundary between the Sparse Jungle and the regular jungle. Coastlines here adjoin lukewarm oceans, and higher elevations transition into forest or stony peaks biomes.
In terms of wildlife, the Sparse Jungle hosts warm-climate animal variants. In Java Edition, the rusty wolf is a mob that spawns exclusively here, making the biome a notable destination for players seeking that variant. Bedrock Edition additionally allows ocelots, parrots, and pandas to spawn, bringing it in line with the regular jungle's mob variety. At night, standard hostile mobs including creepers, zombies, skeletons, spiders, witches, and occasional endermen are present.
When Vibrant Visuals are enabled, the Sparse Jungle gains a distinct atmospheric character: dense humid volumetric fog tints distant terrain orange, warm color grading reflects heat and moisture, and moonlight takes on a more vivid blue hue against a marginally brighter night sky.
