Knockback is a sword enchantment that significantly increases melee Knockback distance, pushing enemies away from the player during combat. This tactical enchantment can be obtained through enchanting tables, villager trading, fishing, and loot chests found in various Minecraft structures.
Knockback comes in two levels, creating horizontal pushback starting at 1.552 blocks and increasing by 2.586 blocks per level. The enchantment also increases vertical Knockback from 0.8125 to 1 block, affecting both direct hits and sword sweeping attacks.
This enchantment proves valuable for crowd control, cliff combat, and creating distance during PvP encounters. Sprinting while attacking effectively adds one additional Knockback level. However, some mobs resist Knockback effects - wardens and shulkers are completely immune, while iron golems resist normal Knockback but are affected by enchanted Knockback. Knockback works excellently for defensive strategies and environmental kills.
