Looting is a sword enchantment that increases item drops from mobs, making it essential for resource farming and rare item collection. This valuable enchantment can be obtained through enchanting tables, villager trading, fishing, and loot chests found in various Minecraft structures.
Looting comes in three levels, increasing maximum common drops by 1 per level while boosting rare drop chances by 1% per level. The enchantment works when holding the sword in your main hand during kills, even if using projectiles or sweep attacks.
This enchantment proves invaluable for mob farming, increasing drops from zombies, skeletons, creepers, and most hostile mobs. However, Looting doesn't affect certain drops like sheep wool, fish from cod/salmon, totems from evokers, or sculk catalysts from wardens. Looting III maximizes efficiency for mob farms and resource collection, making it one of the most sought-after enchantments for survival gameplay and automated farming systems.
