In Java Edition, treasure always generates at chunk coordinates (9,9), while in Bedrock Edition it appears at (8,8). The chest is usually buried under sand, gravel, or stone, but terrain variations may hide it beneath other blocks. If exposed to water, the chest becomes waterlogged.
The chest contains valuable loot such as iron ingots, gold, emeralds, diamonds, TNT, and prismarine crystals, with Heart of the Sea guaranteed. Additional items may include potions of water breathing, food, or armor, varying slightly between Java and Bedrock Editions.
Buried treasure is a reliable way to acquire early-game resources and unlock powerful underwater crafting options.
